60 Minute Fire Rated Paint for Steel

We are working on intumescent fire painting structural steelwork at the latest David Lloyd Club to be built, in Herne Bay on the Kent coast.

This is a large project and the total length of painting required for all the beams, columns, rafters, eaves and purlins comes to over 1 kilometre. The site is live under construction, painting is being done outside and we are using all terrain MEWPs.

Luckily we recently invested in a second Graco heavy duty paint sprayer! Works are carried out on behalf of principal contractor Inline Design.

A 60 minute fire rating indicates that a material or construction component can withstand fire for at least one hour. This rating is used for walls, doors, ceilings, and other building elements. The paint expands up to 100 times in thickness to create a buffer between the steel and the fire.
