Intumescent Fireproof Painting
Intumescent Coatings are available in Water-based, Solvent-based, and Epoxy-based options
Intumescent paint for steel is a fire-retardant coating that swells when heated, creating an insulating layer to protect the steel. This helps prevent structural collapse and gives people time to evacuate safely. Intumescent paint can increase the time a steel structure can withstand during a fire by 60, 90, or 120 minutes.
- Water-based Intumescent Coatings are generally more environmentally friendly and with less odour. These are the most cost-effective solution but are less tolerant to humidity and may take longer to cure in these environments.
- Solvent-based Intumescent Coatings are used in semi-exposed environments and are suitable for all weather and atmospheric temperature variations. They dry faster than Water-based Intumescent Coatings and have a smoother finish.
- Epoxy-based Intumescent Coatings are suitable for use in harsh environments, such as offshore marine industries and petroleum-chemical industries. Epoxy-based coatings come in two parts which forms a very thick film, highly resistant to corrosion.
