Precision Glass Lifting by Spider Crane for Roof‑Light Installation
Spider Crane & Vacuum Glass Lifter Hire
Our team recently carried out a lift involving a 277kg roof‑light glass panel for a residential extension. The job required careful coordination because the only available side access measured 800mm, which limited how equipment could be positioned.
To manage the lift safely and efficiently, the BG Lift M250 spider crane was hired from us along with the Kappell DSKZL2 vacuum lifter. This combination allowed us to control the glass throughout the movement and place it accurately on the flat roof at a height of 3.6 metres.
We planned the lift around the restricted access and the weight of the glass, ensuring that each stage of the operation remained stable. The compact M250 moved through the narrow access route without difficulty, and the vacuum lifter held the panel securely while we guided it into position. By using equipment designed for confined spaces, our team kept the process smooth and avoided unnecessary manual handling.
Roof‑light installations often demand precise alignment and controlled lifting, especially when access is tight. This project shows how compact lifting machinery can support modern construction environments where larger cranes cannot operate. Our approach ensured that the glass reached its final position without disruption to the structure or the surrounding work area.
